The Vidor Public Library serves the community as a “lifelong learning, informational and entertainment resource center.” Services offered to the public include the Theo Houston Texas/Genealogy Room, the Mellie Nagai Community Room, Young Adult Room, Children's Room, audio and visual selections, books, eBooks, computer access, and various workshops throughout the year.
If you are interested in a library card, you will need the following items:
1. A valid Texas driver license/Texas ID
2. Proof of Current Address
Note: There is only 1 card per household, and you must be 18 years of age or older. If you live in Vidor City limits, there is no charge. Non-resident fee is $10.00 cash per year.
Our Theo Houston Texas/Genealogy Room offers a quiet, dedicated space for those exploring family history. It houses a curated collection of local records, census data, historical newspapers, and ancestry research tools. Patrons can access archival documents, and online genealogy databases to trace their roots. Whether you're building a family tree or uncovering local heritage, the genealogy room is a valuable resource for historical discovery.
The Children’s Room is a bright, welcoming space designed to spark imagination and foster a love of reading. It features age-appropriate books, interactive learning materials, and cozy reading nooks. Regular storytimes, crafts, and educational programs engage young minds and encourage early literacy. The room offers a safe, family-friendly environment where children can explore, learn, and grow. Parents and caregivers are always welcome to join in the fun and discovery alongside their little ones.
The library offers a Teen/Young Adult room stocked with popular young adult fiction, graphic novels, and study resources, it’s designed to support both academic and personal growth. This provides the teens of the community a safe and quiet place where they can read or study.
The library has 3 public computers. The public access computers have proven invaluable since they became operational. Every day new patrons and the community make use of the resources available at the library. Time limits apply, but staff are available to assist with basic tech help and troubleshooting. Wi-Fi is also available throughout the building for those using personal devices. Whether you need to check email, apply for jobs, or complete schoolwork, our computers are here to help.
We offer a wide variety of resources and programs to serve patrons of all ages and interests. Our audio and visual selections include DVDs and audiobooks across a range of genres, perfect for entertainment, education, or relaxation. Our book collection spans fiction and nonfiction, classics and new releases, with something for every reader—from toddlers to seniors.
Itty Bitty Storytime (infant to 5 years)
The library holds story time for children during the school year. Those interested in attending or who would like more information, don't hesitate to call The Library.
Wonder Readers Craft Hour (6 to 15 years)
Craft hour is geared towards the homeschool community. We offer a variety of programs, from crafting to learning some basic culinary skills. For more information, please feel free to contact us.
The library offers workshops for the people in the community. Listed are different types of workshops that have been developed or completed:

Prints, Copies and Scan Services
The library offers printing, copies and scan services for the public. Listed below are the prices for printing and copying services. For scanning services, the first two (2) scans are free and $.10 for each page after.
